Floods in Bordeaux: firefighters on call

Inondations à Bordeaux : les pompiers en intervention

Last Friday, September 3rd, impressive rain fell on the city of Bordeaux for two hours. This sudden onset of water caused major flooding across the city, particularly in Bordeaux-Bastide, on the right bank, and on the outskirts of the towns of Artigues, Cenon, and Floirac. Meteorological services recorded accumulations of 30 to 40 mm of rain in just a few hours.

The flooding was so severe that firefighters were called out at least 42 times that evening. CODIS (Commission for Disaster Risk Reduction) specified that these interventions mainly affected cellars and other premises.

Fortunately, there are no casualties. As for the extensive damage, it will take several days or even weeks to clean up, repair, and restore order.
