Western Romania was severely affected by floods this May 2021. The cause was severe weather that caused the Crisu Pietros River to flood, prompting residents of nearby villages to evacuate the area. Several houses were flooded and other rivers in the county are still under flood watch and alert.
Meteorologists have warned of future risks due to the persistent bad weather. The wind is blowing with gusts reaching 80 km/h in the mountains.
All authorities remain on flood alert and waterways are under surveillance.
