Anticipating and preventing flood risks

Because anticipating is the first step to protection, OBLOC is fully committed to flood risk prevention . Being prepared helps avoid emergencies and limit material and human damage. At the Flood Fair in Woustviller , organized on October 18 and 19 by the Alsace-Moselle Water and Sanitation Authority (SDEA) , the message was clear: everyone has a role to play in better protecting themselves against floods.

This event brought together the general public, experts and professionals around a common goal: to inform, raise awareness and present concrete flood protection solutions adapted to all needs.

Complete solutions for flood prevention and protection

At the trade show, numerous innovative technologies and equipment were presented to protect homes and business premises. Among the most effective:

  • flood barriers (or flood control barriers ) to block water at entry points (doors, garages, cellars),

  • Non-return valves to prevent water from backing up through the pipes,

  • Drainage pumps and modular mini dikes to redirect or contain water in case of a sudden rise.

These devices, simple to install and maintain, offer a real flood barrier and constitute the first line of defense against extreme weather.

OBLOC absorbent bags and rolls: immediate and eco-friendly protection

OBLOC® barriers represent an innovative and eco-friendly alternative to traditional sandbags. Easy to handle, OBLOC absorbent bags and booms deploy in seconds and inflate upon contact with water, creating rapid and effective protection against seepage.

Discreet, lightweight, efficient , they allow for immediate action in the event of a flood or sudden runoff.

What if water got in anyway?

After a flood, the time comes for recovery and post-disaster drying . For this crucial step, OBLOC® offers a highly effective solution: super-absorbent powder . With just 2.4 kg, the product can dry 500 liters of water in only seconds. This equates to 2 cm of water in a 25 m² room. Once the floor has returned to its normal condition, the next step is to address the moisture in the walls.

It is now the turn of powerful dehumidifiers to play their part in accelerating the drying of walls and furniture. These tools help limit mold, odors, and structural damage, ensuring a quick return to normal.

An artistic touch to close the show: the play "Soon the Wave?" 🌊🎭

At the 4th Flood Fair in Woustviller , the SDEA (Departmental Water and Sanitation Authority) concluded Saturday's events with an original performance by the Compagnie du Héron à deux becs (Two-Beaked Heron Company ). Entitled "Soon the Wave?" , this play, suitable for ages 6 and up, captivated the audience for 1 hour and 10 minutes. With sensitivity, humor, and emotion , the actors addressed the risk of flooding and the challenges of climate change , inviting everyone to reflect differently, through art, on the environmental challenges that affect us all.
A moment that was both educational and poetic, which magnificently concluded this edition of the fair.

Thanks to SDEA for this enriching event.

OBLOC® would like to warmly thank SDEA for organizing this 4th edition of the Flood Fair in Woustviller . This event was a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas with the public, local authorities, and stakeholders on the challenges of prevention, adaptation, and resilience in the face of flood risk.
A big congratulations on this event, which was rich in exchanges, discoveries and concrete solutions for a safer and better-prepared future.
